Engineering Control — Not Behavioral Control

PPE protects skin. HSF Hands-Off Tools protect the mechanism. By transferring control from bare hands to purpose-designed tools, you eliminate compressive force, shear force, and impact energy at the source — not on the glove surface. This is manual handling safety done through design, not reminders.

The Product Range

Four Categories.
One Mission.

Each HSF Hands-Off Tool is engineered for a specific manual handling hazard. Select the right tool for your application — and remove hands from the equation.

Push / Pull Load Control

HSF RiggerSafe™
Push Pull Tool

Built for riggers, crane operators, and load-handling crews working in offshore, onshore, marine, construction and utility environments. The RiggerSafe fibreglass shaft and wide-face push head lets workers guide, push and position suspended loads with maximum precision — and zero hand contact.

Magnetic Steel Handling

HSF LoadGrab™
Magnetic Push/Pull

For ferrous load control — steel plates, road plates, trench covers, I-beams, pipes and heavy fabricated components. The MagHead magnetic ball head assembly grips the load; the fiberglass pole keeps hands at a safe distance. Quick-release function for fast detachment in confined or challenging spaces.

Cylinder & Pressurised Vessel Handling

HSF Cylinder
Handler

Industrial gas cylinders are heavy, top-heavy, and routinely handled in oil & gas, power plants, chemical processing and healthcare environments. The HSF Cylinder Handler removes hands from the rolling and tipping zone — the primary cause of finger and hand crush events in cylinder management.

HSF Hose &
Pipe Handler

During installation, removal, or maintenance, hoses and pipes present a consistent hand injury risk — especially under pressure or in live-work environments. HSF Pipe Handlers allow operators to align and position without direct grip, eliminating the most common pinch and impact exposure points in shutdown and turnaround operations.

Why Tools Beat PPE

Gloves Protect Skin.
Tools Eliminate Risk.

The hierarchy of controls is unambiguous: engineering controls outrank PPE every time. Here's what each approach actually does — and doesn't do.

✗ Gloves & PPE Alone
  • Provide surface protection only — skin, abrasion, minor cuts
  • Do not mitigate compressive force from a suspended load
  • Do not reduce shear force during catching or sudden movement
  • Do not absorb impact energy from a swinging load
  • Do not keep hands out of pinch zones or caught-between hazards
  • Create false confidence that hand contact is now "safe"
  • Wear, degrade and are inconsistently used across shifts
✓ HSF Hands-Off Tools
  • Remove hands from the hazard zone entirely — engineering control
  • Transfer compressive and shear forces to the tool, not fingers
  • Maintain operator standoff distance during unpredictable load movement
  • Provide precise directional control without hand contact
  • Consistent risk reduction on every single interaction, every shift
  • Improve compliance with hands-free and safety protocols
  • Compatible with existing workflows — no operational disruption
Where HSF Tools Are Deployed

Built for
Your Industry.

HSF Hands-Off Tools are most effective in environments where suspended, rolling, or pressurised loads require manual interaction in confined, elevated, or dynamic conditions.

Offshore & Marine
Pipe bundle management, suspended cargo, deck crane operations, marine load transfers, dynamic lifting zones
↓ Crush & Impact from Swing Loads
🏗️
Construction
Structural beam positioning, precast concrete handling, rebar cages, confined-space load alignment, site crane guidance
↓ Caught-Between Hazards
🛢️
Oil & Gas
Rig floor drill pipe guiding, cylinder handling, hose management, shutdown & turnaround maintenance operations
↓ Pinch Points & Pressure Release
Electrical & Utilities
Transformer guiding, insulator positioning, pole alignment, confined vault work with electrical risk present
↓ Electrical Contact + Crush Risk
🏭
Steel & Fabrication
Steel plate handling, fabricated structure alignment, pipe yard management, heavy component positioning in workshops
↓ Pinch & Shear During Alignment
⛏️
Mining & Heavy Eng.
Oversized and awkward load interaction in dusty environments, equipment maintenance lifts, component repositioning
↓ Swing, Drift & Sudden Movement
RiggerSafe Size Range

Every Task Has
The Right Length.

Most push/pull tools come in 2–3 sizes. That forces compromise — and compromise creates risk. The HSF RiggerSafe range covers nine precision-engineered lengths so operators always have the correct standoff distance for the task.

High-Visibility Colors

Seen Fast.
Reacted To Fast.

Bright Yellow
Maximum visibility in low-light, shadow zones and during night operations. The universal high-vis standard.
Precision Blue
High contrast against structural steel and bright deck environments. Preferred by technicians needing visual focus during precise alignment.
Safety Green
Highly visible against concrete, soil and site backgrounds. Common in construction, civil and utility environments.
Common Questions

Answered.
Clearly.

What exactly are HSF Hands-Off Tools?
HSF Hands-Off Tools are a range of purpose-built manual handling equipment designed to remove hands from high-risk load interaction points. The range includes push/pull load control sticks (RiggerSafe), magnetic push/pull tools (LoadGrab), cylinder handlers, and hose and pipe handling tools. Each product category targets specific injury mechanisms — crush, pinch, impact and caught-between hazards.
Why are Hands-Off Tools more effective than better gloves?
Gloves provide surface protection only. They cannot mitigate compressive force, shear force, or impact energy acting on fingers and hands. The only effective risk reduction method at the engineering control level is to remove hands from the load interface entirely and transfer control to a tool. HSF Hands-Off Tools achieve this without reducing operational efficiency or disrupting existing workflows.
What is the HSF RiggerSafe and why are so many sizes available?
The HSF RiggerSafe is a hands-off load control stick engineered for safe load handling, industrial rigging, and suspended load control. It is available in 9 sizes from 21" to 96" because most injuries in rigging occur when operators use a tool that is slightly too short for the task — forcing them to move closer to the load. Each RiggerSafe size is engineered for a specific standoff distance and application type, so crews never need to compromise. All tools are tested using wire rope and lifting component test machines.
Can the LoadGrab magnetic tools be used on all steel surfaces?
LoadGrab magnetic tools are designed for suitable ferrous surfaces — steel plates, beams, pipes, fabricated structures, and similar components. They should not be used on high-temperature surfaces, heavily painted or coated substrates without surface assessment, non-ferrous materials, or heavily contaminated surfaces. Correct application selection is critical. Contact the HSF team to confirm suitability for your specific use case.
Which industries use HSF Hands-Off Tools most?
HSF Hands-Off Tools are deployed across offshore and marine operations, oil and gas, construction, steel fabrication, mining, electrical and utility work, refineries, and logistics. The common denominator is any environment where heavy, suspended, rolling or pressurised loads must be manually guided, positioned or aligned without placing hands in pinch, crush or impact zones.
Do HSF tools integrate into existing lifting and rigging workflows?
Yes. HSF Hands-Off Tools are designed to complement existing workflows without disruption. They do not replace certified lifting equipment — they address the load control phase that occurs after lifting. The tools add an engineering control layer at the point of highest hand exposure: horizontal load movement, obstacle avoidance, final alignment and landing.
